Escape the Crowds in Salalah

While Wadi Darbat and Marneef Cave are spectacular, they can get crowded during the peak Khareef season. If you are looking for tranquility and adventure, these hidden gems offer a peaceful look into Dhofar's raw beauty.

1. Al Fizayah Beach (The Wild Coast)

While tourists visit Mughsail, few venture further west down the steep, gravel switchback road to Al Fizayah Beach. Those who do are rewarded with a 5-kilometer stretch of pristine, empty sand, dramatic rocky outcrops, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Wild camels frequently walk along the shore, making for incredible photography.

2. The Shaat Viewpoint & Cliffs

Located near the border town of Rakhyut, about a 1.5-hour drive west of Salalah, Shaat is a spectacular viewpoint where the Al Qamar mountain range drops vertically into the Arabian Sea from a height of 1,000 meters. A wooden boardwalk offers panoramic views, and during the Khareef, you will be walking directly in the clouds.

3. Ayn Tobruk & Ayn Sanik

Tucked deep in the valleys of the east and west, these natural mountain springs flow year-round. They feature small freshwater pools surrounded by wild fig trees and vines. It is a perfect spot for bird watching and experiencing quiet mountain scenery away from tour groups.
