An immersive overnight desert expedition. Sleep in comfortable Bedouin-style tents nestled among massive golden dunes, complete with campfire dinner and stargazing.
For the ultimate desert experience, our overnight expedition into the Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter) offers a deep escape from the modern world. Spending a night in the world's largest sand desert allows you to experience absolute silence, witness skies filled with constellations, and watch both a sunset and sunrise from the peaks of massive sand dunes. This private 4x4 safari is fully catered, providing a comfortable camping setup with spacious tents, cozy mattresses, and delicious meals cooked over an open campfire.
The tour follows our desert safari route, stopping at Wadi Dawkah frankincense park and the Lost City of Ubar ruins on Day 1. By late afternoon, we enter the deep sand dunes for high-thrill dune bashing and sandboarding. We then establish our camp in a protected valley surrounded by giant dunes, where you will watch the sun dip below the desert horizon. As night falls, we light the campfire and serve a freshly prepared barbecue dinner, followed by a stargazing session led by your guide, who will point out the constellations.
On Day 2, you will wake up early to witness a magical desert sunrise, followed by a freshly cooked breakfast and Omani coffee. Before heading back to Salalah, we visit a local Bedouin camel herd, where you can meet friendly black camels (Malha) and learn about Bedouin survival history.

All our private tours are tailored specifically for your group. You will have a dedicated local Omani guide who also acts as your driver, providing a comfortable, informative, and private experience. The schedule can be adjusted dynamically based on your interest, walking pace, and weather conditions.
We utilize modern, clean, air-conditioned 4WD vehicles (such as Toyota Land Cruisers or Nissan Patrols) for all mountain and desert safaris. Sedan vehicles are used for standard city heritage tours. Child seats can be provided upon request at no extra charge. Our drivers are trained in off-road sand driving and mountain pass safety.
When visiting religious and local heritage sites (such as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque or local castles), strict dress codes apply. Both men and women must cover their shoulders and knees. Women must cover their hair and wear full-length sleeves and trousers/skirts when entering the grand mosque. Modest swimwear is acceptable at private resort beaches, but shorts and t-shirts are recommended on public beaches.
Dhofar experiences two distinct seasons. The Khareef monsoon (June to September) features near-constant light drizzle, mist, and cooler temperatures. Hiking paths can be muddy, and waterfalls are active. During this season, sea swimming and boat cruises are completely suspended due to rough waves. The dry winter season (October to May) offers warm sunshine, blue skies, and calm seas, which are perfect for snorkeling, diving, and desert camping.
We recommend booking at least 3 months in advance for the peak Khareef season (July and August) due to exceptionally high demand. To secure your reservation, a deposit may be requested. Cancellations made up to 48 hours before the tour departure are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours or no-shows are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
Our prices are calculated per vehicle/group (up to 4 travelers). This offers excellent value for families and couples, as you get a private guide and vehicle for a flat rate.
